Haddad, Wade, Heller Earn All-Conference Awards

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — Maci Haddad was selected All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) First Team, Isabella Wade garnered Second Team honors and Lauren Heller was honored with the Character Award as the trio represented California Lutheran University women's volleyball.

The 2021 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Women's Volleyball teams were announced Monday following a vote conducted by the league's member head coaches.

Haddad (Bakersfield, Calif.) earned First Team All-SCIAC for third time in her career. The senior outside hitter led her squad with 274 kills, fifth in the conference, while hitting with an impressive percentage of .361, which was second-best. She added 110 total blocks, which were the second-most in the SCIAC, and added 11 aces and 11 assists. She accumulated 347 points, scoring a team-high 3.7 points per set.

Wade (Corona, Calif.) was named Second Team All-SCIAC in her first collegiate season. The libero led the team with 435 digs, 200 more than any other Regals, and tallied 5.06 per set. Her digs were the third-most and her digs per set fourth-most. She added 61 assists and 20 aces. She had double-digit digs 22 times, 20-plus digs nine times and had a season-high of 33.

Heller (Menlo Park, Calif.) was voted the 2021 SCIAC Character Award recipient. The volleyball character award is presented to a junior or senior who best exemplifies success on the court, in the classroom, and with involvement in community and school service. Specifically, it recognizes students who, while competing on their teams, have been recognized by coaches, officials, institutional administrators, or others as making significant contributions representing their school and serving their communities based on the following criteria: advancing sportsmanship, balancing sports and major personal academic achievements, demonstrating behavior that models efforts of inclusion within their teams and those of their opponents, contributes to a sense of civility in society, or otherwise innovatively elevates the profile of what participation in the SCIAC conference and as a Division III student-athlete can offer to the betterment of the community.

The Regals have clinched a berth in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament. Cal Lutheran will travel to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Thursday for a match at 7 p.m.
