Regals Put On Clinic, Sweep Poets

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — The California Lutheran University women's volleyball team got back in the win column as the Regals put on a Clinic and took down the Poets 25-17, 25-16, 29-27 on Saturday night. 

The Regals controlled the match and won the first two sets handily. Whittier put the Regals to the test in the third as the Poets looked to keep it going. 

With the Regals up 24-22 in the final set, the Poets answered with three straight points and snagged the lead. Kennedy Crane answered with a kill and the scoring went back-and-forth over the next three points. 

Crane put the finishing touches on the game. With the score knotted up at 27, she served an ace and then swatted down the final kill. 

Maci Haddad and the Regals controlled the net. The All-American senior totaled eight block assists as Morgan Given tallied six and Christina Williams had four. 

Haddad was close to a double-double as the tallied 10 kills with a hit percentage of .500. Lauren Heller was the next offensive weapon and tallied nine kills with 12 digs. 

Jenna Jones and Tess Holbert kept the offense moving with 19 and 16 assists, respectively. Jones recorded a double-double with 10 digs. Tolbert was big behind the serving line and had a team-high three aces. 

With the win, the Regals get back to .500 in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play at 3-3 and are 5-11 overall. Up next, the Regals hit the road and take on La Verne on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
