THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — California Lutheran University athletics is back and excited for the 2021-2022 year. After shortened season's last year, all 22 teams have full schedules and ready to show what it means to be a Kingsmen and Regal.
The first season preview of the year is Regals volleyball. Led by Head Coach Kellee Roesel, the 2021 squad received votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Coaches Top-25 preseason poll.
The Purple and Gold are also playing for their 12th straight Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Postseason Tournament berth.

The Regals begin their season on Sept. 3, with the Pacific Coast Classic, in Claremont, Calif. You can catch them at home for the first time for the East to West Battle, Sept. 10-11.
We sat down with Coach Roesel to get her thoughts on the upcoming season.
You were one of the few Cal Lutheran teams that weren't able to see action in 2020, how much more excitement does this give you for 2021? It makes us all appreciate every chance we get. The opportunity to play even more.
You always have one of the stronger schedules in the nation, especially with tournaments at the start of the year, which games should fans be ready for? All three of the tournaments we play in will be loaded with the best teams in the nation, along with some of my dearest friends in the coaching ranks!
Your team is a good mix of returners and newcomers, what can you tell us about the returners? I cannot say enough about the resiliency, dedication, and love for the program that my returners have shown over the past year. All of them are excellent examples of the types of young women we are trying to help produce here at Cal Lutheran.
Who has stood out as a newcomer and what can we expect from this class? All of the incoming kids are impressive. They will all contribute to the current and future success of the program.
What are you looking forward to this year and what are your expectations? I am looking forward to practice most. Having the opportunity to work with some of my dearest friends each day is a blessing. This young group of women have been nothing short of a joy to be around, coach and mentor. My expectations are that the group works as hard as they possibly can in all areas of their lives, that they love the process, that they build lasting relationships with their Sisters, and they do it all with a grateful heart.
