Regals Open SCIAC Season with 3-0 Sweep of Redlands

REDLANDS, California — The California Lutheran Women's Volleyball team opened up the 2021-'22 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season with a 3-0 (28-26, 25-21, 25-23) sweep of the University of Redlands Bulldogs.

Kennedy Crane led the way on offense with 13 kills on a busy 37 attempts. Maci Haddad added 8 kills with an impressively efficient .467 hitting percentage. The offense was rounded out by Kira Mortensen and Morgan Given with 6 and 5 kills respectively.

The defensive side of the ball saw Kennedy Crane lead again with 11 digs to record her third double-double of the season. Isabella Wade was also able to reach double digits with 10 digs.

At the net Julia Olsen, Maci Haddad, and Kira Mortensen had 3 block assists each.

Jenna Jones dished out 18 assists along with Tess Holbert's 14. Both setters also added 7 digs each in the back row.

Despite three very close sets, the Regals were able to find a way to finish with confidence at the ends. The first two sets were closed out with kills from Morgan Given and Miranda Chan. Match point came on an ace from Julia Trento.

The Regals will return to Gilbert Arena for another conference match against Occidental on Friday at 7:00 p.m. PST.
