Regals Sweep Occidental, Move to 2-0 in SCIAC Play

THOUSAND OAKS, California — Cal Lutheran women's volleyball swept the Occidental Tigers 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-19) on Friday night at Gilbert Arena.

Maci Haddad led the team with 11 kills on 17 attempts for the night pushing the Regals offense to win three straights sets, she had a hitting percentage of .588. Morgen Given followed with seven kills.

Jenna Jones set up her offense well tallying 56 total assists on the night, Tess Holbert also added 28 of her own.

Haddad and Given each led the defense with eight blocks. Haddad had one solo block while Kira Mortenson, Miranda Chan, and Christina Williams assisted on several blocks throughout the night. Chan and Williams also added five kills for the Regals.

The energy from the Purple and Gold was intense from the beginning as they came out and dominated the first set, they had an attack percentage of 76%. They used that momentum to keep them rolling throughout the rest of the match.

Contributing even more on the defensive side Isabella Wade led with 18 digs. The team had a total of 12 blocks and despite 14 score ties the women were able to come out on top each time.

Julia Trento added three service aces and Wade and Kennedy Crane each contributed two.

The women's volleyball team looks to continue their winning streak at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday the 25th at 6 p.m.
