Regals Lose 5 Set Battle With Chapman

THOUSAND OAKS, California — Regals volleyball fought hard in their conference matchup against the Panthers, but fell to Chapman 3-2 (21-25, 19-25, 25-23, 25-20, 15-12).

The Purple and Gold came out strong and won the first two sets of the match. Maci Haddad had 21 kills and a hitting percentage of .487 followed by Kennedy Crane's 15 kills.

Christina Williams had 8 kills and a hitting percentage of .583. She had a huge rally in the third set giving the Regals some come back hope, but it wasn't enough to put the team on top.

Jenna Jones led the offense in assists with 39, she also added three service aces. Isabella Wade led the team with 27 digs, but the team was unable to find a groove after the first two sets.

The women's volleyball team was aggressive near the net for majority of the game with Julia Olsen leading with four block assists, Haddad, and Kira Mortensen each added three, Mortensen also added a solo block. Kennedy Crane contributed on two block assists.

Gilbert Arena saw a lot of excitement and back and forth leads during this match. There was a chance for Cal Lutheran to come back and take the match in the third set but Chapman had too large of a lead.

Once the Chapman Panthers captured the nail biting third set, they were able to use that momentum push to overcome their deficit in the match.

The Regals look ahead to their next match as they travel to Pomona Pitzer on Friday, October 1st.
