Regals Take Down Chapman on the Road

ORANGE, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's water polo went on the road and got the job done as they took down Chapman 12-8 on Saturday afternoon. 

The Regals improved to 5-3 in the SCIAC and sit in the third spot for the conference tournament. 

Jacsen Donohue had the offense rolling with four goals and three assists. Kemi Dijkstra added three goals and Kaitlin Gardhouse and Bethany Metcalfe had two each. 

Izzy De Souza was in the goal and had a .636 save percentage. She got the win and recorded 14 saves. Gardhouse led the defense with three steals and Katie Knight was next with two. 

The Regals scored the first three goals of the game and the Panthers answered with three of their own. Chapman took its first lead at 4-3 with 1:54 remaining in the second quarter. The teams exchanged goals over the final minutes and the game was tied 5-5 at the half. 

With the score tied at 6-6, Metcalfe scored a goal and Donohue added back-to-back points. After another Panther and Regal goal, Cal Lutheran was up 10-7 after three quarters. It was the lead the Regals needed as they never looked back and took the game. 

With four games to play, the Regals are primed and ready for the final part of the season. The Regals get Wednesday off and continue with Occidental at home on Saturday for Senior Day. The game starts at 11 a.m.
