Regals Cruise Past Augustana, Grove City on Day Two of Convergence Tournament

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's water polo was on a roll on Saturday and defeated Augustana 13-4 and Grove City 24-5 on day two of the Convergence Tournament. 

The Regals handled their business in the first game of the day, easily defeating the Vikings. Kemi Dijkstra had a game-high four goals, Kaitlin Gardhouse tallied three and Bethany Metcalfe had two. 

Izzy De Souza was in goal and recorded three saves and one assist. Jacsen Donohue led her squad with two steals.

Cal Lutheran shutout Augustana in the first quarter. The Regals scored the first four goals of the game and before the Vikings got on the board with 5:24 left in the half. The Regals kept the points coming and went up 8-1. They coasted the rest of the way and took the game. 

Against Grove City, Lauren Lohmeier and Megan Findlay both scored five goals each. Metcalfe and Gardhouse were next with three goals each. Paige Woodside and Abby Lanier both had two. Vianne Will was in goal and had four saves and one assist. 

The teams exchanged goals to start the game and then Cal Lutheran took over. The Regals scored 11 straight goals and the rout was on. Cal Lutheran led 16-4 at the half and never looked back. The Regal reserves played quality minutes as the team continued to improve on the young season.

The Regals are back in action on Monday. Cal Lutheran hosts Iona at 3 p.m.
