THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's basketball had a shot at the buzzer, but it was just off as the Occidental Tigers shocked the Regals 61-60 on Wednesday night.

With the loss, the Regals drop to 11-8 overall and 5-6 in SCIAC. Cal Lutheran currently sits in the fourth spot with five games to play. Chapman is half a game back and Pomona-Pitzer is one game out.

Janna Holley led all scored with 20 points as she was 8-14 from the field. Karina McMillan was next with 10 points and added eight rebounds, four of which were offensive, and four assists. Naomi Gipson had eight points and six rebounds and Alexa Greenwood and Sara Mills had 11 points each. Annie Winton had six points as she made two three-pointers.

Cal Lutheran outrebounded Occidental 46-33 and won the turnover battle 15-12. However, the Regals were 30.6-percent from the field while the Tigers shot 44-percent.

The teams went back and forth throughout the game with eight ties and three lead changes. It all came down to the fourth quarter. With one minute left, and the score tied at 58, Aliya DiMuro was assessed a flagrant foul and Occidental made one of the free throws to take the lead.

The Tigers then increased their leaf with 36 seconds left and the Regals needed to answer. Cal Lutheran did just that as McMillan made a layup with 18 seconds to go.

Greenwood played fantastic defense and tied up the Tigers to force a jump ball with 12 seconds left. Cal Lutheran got the ball and had a shot to win. Greenwood's shot with two seconds left was just off the mark as Occidental held on for the win.

The Regals look to get back in the win column on Saturday. Cal Lutheran is at Caltech with tip-off set for 2 p.m.
