DiMuro Records Second Double-Double of the Year as Regals fall to UC Santa Cruz 75-54

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's basketball was defeated on the road, falling to UC Santa Cruz 75-54 on Sunday afternoon.

The Regals dropped to 4-2 on the year while the Banana Slugs improved to 9-1.

Cal Lutheran was outscored 23-8 in the second quarter and 19-14 in the third. The breathing room allowed the Banana Slugs to coast through the second half. 

UC Santa Cruz shot 50-percent from the field while Cal Lutheran was 34.4. The Banana slugs were 38.5-percent from behind the arc and the Regals were just 22.2.

The shooting was the big difference in the game as other numbers were quite similar. The Regals had 19 turnovers to the Banana Slug's 17, had 22 points off turnovers to 20 and UC Santa Cruz held a 28-26 points in the paint advantage.

Janna Holley had 15 points to go with four assists, three rebounds and two steals. Aliya DiMuro was next with 10 points and Sara Mills had seven. DiMuro recorded her second career double-double as she tallied 12 rebounds. Mills dished out a team-high eight assists and added a team-high five steals. 

The Regals return home for their next contest. Cal Lutheran host George Fox on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
