Regals Move to 6-0 at Home, Defeat Caltech 60-45

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. —  Aliya DiMuro, Naomi Gipson and Sara Mills combined for 38 points as Cal Lutheran women's basketball defeated Caltech 60-45 on Saturday night. 

The victory brings their overall record to 9-3 and conference record to 3-2. The Regals remaine perfect in Gilbert Arena and are 6-0 at home..

The Regals forced the Beavers into 15 turnovers, scoring 24 points off them. Cal Lutheran had 46 points in the paint and their largest lead of the game was 38.

Gipson and Mills had 13 points each and DiMuro added 12 more. Gipson recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds and added four steals. Mills was efficient with five assists, five steals and four rebounds. Grace Godines tied for the team-high with five assists and Karina McMillan had the team-high for assists with six.

Cal Lutheran began strong as Mills opened the game with a layup. Caltech quickly retaliated, tying the game 2-2. The Regals did not let them score again, for most of the quarter, dominating the court, going up 17-2. The Regals continued their momentum, and were overwhelming, going up 20-5 at the end of the first quarter. Cal Lutheran's offense and defense kept rolling in the second quarter. The Regals conquered the Beavers in the first half and were up 39-9 at the break.

Caltech returned determined as the Beavers started strong in the third quarter. Their comeback was short lived as the Regals continued to widen their gap, going up 45-11. The Regals coasted the rest of the quarter and the game as they picked up a good win at home.

The Regals' next game will be in Gilbert Arena against the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m.
