Kingsmen Need An At-Large Bid For NCAA Tournament Play

Redlands, Calif. – The No. 3 Kingsmen traveled to the No. 2 Bulldogs for the semi-final game of the SCIAC post season tournament. They were unable to upset the Bulldogs and left with a 0-2 score.

The game started with strong possession from the Kingsmen and a great opportunity on goal by Michael Bogart in the first 30 seconds. Matt Myers sent a cross over the top of the defense and Bogart met it on the other end but wasn't able to get enough behind it to push it past the keeper. Cameron Korshavn was hanging outside the box and collected the ball on the clear but his shot was sent over the cross bar.

The Kingsmen went down 1-0 in the 19th minute but still kept a heavy offensive presence. Christopher Pelaez ripped a promising shot right outside the box but it sailed high over the upper right corner.

With a little over eight minutes left in the half, the Bulldogs managed to sneak in another goal and went into halftime with the lead of 2-0.

The Purple and Gold had a total of three shots in the first 45.

The Kingsmen started the second 45 strong in the defensive half. Despite the momentum of the Bulldogs, the back line and keeper Ivan Lumbrano were holding down the defensive third.

Pelaez had another great shot on goal but hit the outside of the side netting 10 minutes in to the second half.

Despite their efforts in the second half, the Kingsmen were unable to get one on the score board. They added another four shots in the second half but couldn't get one to fall.

The Kingsmen will need an at-large bid to move on to the NCAA tournament. They will find out on Monday at 1 pm if their season will continue.
