THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Christian Gonzalez and Chris Pelaez both tallied a goal and a assist to push the California Lutheran University men's soccer past the Chapman Panthers 3-1 on Wednesday night.

After Chapman went up 1-0 late in the second half, the Purple and Gold came out on fire to start the second half.

Within a span of five minutes, Gonzalez and Palaez scored, and assisted on each other's goal. Gonzalez got the Kingsmen on the board and he fired the ball past the goalkeeper into the top right corner in the 51st minute.

The Kingsmen gained momentum and took control in the 55th minute and Palaez converted his opportunity.

Cal Lutheran put the finishing touches on in the 82nd minute as Caleb Merrill scored his first collegiate goal. Off a set piece, Matt Myers put together a beautiful cross which Merrill put in the back of the net.

Ivan Lumbrano was in goal and made two saves, and got the win, as the Kingsmen were back in the win column.

The Kingsmen improved to 2-1-1 in conference and are 5-2-2 overall. Cal Lutheran hits the road for its next contest and will take on Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday at 11 a.m.
