Kingsmen Soccer Kick Off Conference Play With a 1-0 Shut Out

Thousand Oaks, CA — The Kingsmen hosted the Beavers at home on Wednesday night. The match up at William Rolland Stadium resulted in 1-0 conference win with the Purple and Gold on top!

The first goal of the night was scored by Matt Myers 32 minutes into the match, he was assisted by Chris Pelaez. Myers was able to slip it into the bottom right corner, giving the keeper no chance at a save.

Preston Fleming and JP Melgoza each had a shot on goal in the first half contributing to a strong offensive presence for the night.

To start the game and throughout the second half, there were several shots on goal for the Kingsmen. It was clear that there was still a lot of energy to put on the field.

A lot of the match consisted of back-and-forth possession between Cal Lutheran and Cal Tech. The Beavers put up a strong effort to get a goal to go but could not get past the Kingsmen's solid defense.

Ivan Lumbrano was in the net for the night but did not see much action as the Kingsmen defense didn't allow many shots on goal. He tallied a total of one save on the night.

The purple and gold had a total of 10 shots, three of them being on frame. Cal Tech only had a total of four shots on the night as the Kingsmen dominated the ball.

Cal Lutheran men's soccer look to add another win on Saturday, September 18th versus UC Santa Cruz. The game is at home at 4 p.m.
