THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Christian Gonzalez and Matt Myers both scored a goal and the California Lutheran University men's soccer team played to a 2-2 double overtime tie against UC Santa Cruz.

It was the final non-conference game before the Kingsmen jump into conference play.

The Banana Slugs controlled the first half as they scored off a penalty kick in the 5th minute and then added one more in the 10th

In the second half, it was Cal Lutheran's turn. Gonzalez got the Purple and Gold on the board in the 60th minutes. 15 minutes later, Jackson Endsley was flying down the right line. He crossed the ball and found Myers open for the goal.

The game was rough as both teams committed eight fouls in the first half. The hard play continued in the second half as 19 fouls each in regulation.

With no winner after 90 seconds, the game would go to overtime. Both teams had more chances but the game was tied after 110 minutes.

Up next, the Kingsmen hit the road for their next two games. Cal Lutheran will be at Whittier on Wednesday for a game at 7 p.m.
