Kingsmen Unable To Upset No. 2 Redlands

Thousand Oaks, Calif. – The Kingsmen hosted the No. 2 team in conference, the Redland Bulldogs, in hopes of jumping to the No. 2 spot themselves.

The energy tonight in William Rolland Stadium was electric. The last time these two met, they ended the 110 minutes in a draw.

Each team was playing solid defense, controlling it in the midfield and creating chances up top. The purple and gold knew what was at stake and played accordingly. They tallied three close chances in the first 45.

Igor Lumbrano, Tyler Sherard, and Chris Pelaez all had a shot for the Kingsmen but none were able to make it on the scoreboard.

The Kingsmen's backline only allowed one legitimate chance for the Bulldogs and it was from the penalty line. With the odds against goalkeeper Ivan Lumbrano, he owned the line and secured the ball before it could hit the back of the net.

They headed into half time with a chip on their shoulder and 0-0 on the scoreboard.

They second half started just as intense as the first. The purple and gold were creative in the offensive third and were giving themselves chances.

They had an additional five shots in the second half but still were unable to get one to fall. Jackson Endsley, Michael Bogart, Christian Gonzalez, and Pelaez were the shot takers in the second 45.

Lumbrano added another save in the second half as well.

Despite how crafty they were, the Bulldogs were able to hold off the Kingsmen for all 90 minutes.

The purple and gold had heavy defensive pressure all over the field but the Bulldogs ended up walking away with a 2-0 win.
