THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran softball competed hard in both games with Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday afternoon. The Sagehens had the answers and took game one, 5-4, and game two, 2-0.

Game One
The Regals were up 4-1 going into the top of the sixth, but couldn't tame the Sagehens' hitters. Pomona-Pitzer put up a four-spot in the inning and held on for the win.

Paige Henry was in the circle for the first six innings before Brooke DeSmet relieved her in the seventh. Henry gave up 11 hits and five earned runs. DeSmet gave up just one hit in her 1.0 inning.

DeSmet led the Regals offensively with two RBI. She was followed by Makayla Lopez and Mia Antonino with one each. There were 11 hits total in game one. Ariana Mendoza, Regan Laubscher, and DeSmet led the team with two each.

Game Two
The Regals gave a valiant effort, but it wasn't enough to avoid the sweep. Casey Edwards commanded the mound in game two and pitched all seven innings, keeping the Sagehens to just two runs. The scoring didn't come until the fifth as Pomona-Pitzer got both its runs in the same inning.

The Regals tallied six hits in the afternoon showdown, Mendoza recording another two after game one. Olivia Vargas, Ally Macapagal, Lopez and Edwards all got one hit a piece.

The Regals continue the season on Friday. Cal Lutheran hosts Redlands on Friday afternoon. First pitch is for 3 p.m.
