CLAREMONT, Calif. — Casey Edwards had a perfect game through three innings, but Claremont-Mudd-Scripps got to her after that and Cal Lutheran softball dropped the series opener 8-0 on Friday afternoon.

Edwards was in the circle for the entire game and faced 29 batters. She was superb in the first three innings as she shutdown the Stags. They got to her in the next three innings as the Regals fell to 7-7 in overall and 0-1 in conference.

The Regals fought hard with the Stags in the first three innings as both teams kept each other in a deadlock at 0-0. At the bottom of the fourth, the Stags found an opening in Regal's defense and scored three runs.

Cal Lutheran tried to score their own runs but were unable to as the Stags pitcher went the distance and took the game. Mia Antonino, Makayla Lopez, and Olivia Vargas each had a hit in the loss.

The Regals continue their series with the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday with the doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
