Rond Garners All-American First Team Honors; Gardhouse, De Souza, And Dijkstra Appointed Honorable Mentions

Thousand Oaks, Calif. – Lexi Rond of California Lutheran University women's water polo garnered first team All-American honors which was announced by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) on Friday. Izzy De Souza, Kaitlin Gardhouse, and Kemi Dijkstra were all honorable mentions.

Rond (Ventura) earned All-American first team honors in all four years of play here at California Lutheran. Rond was also named SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Year for the past two consecutive seasons and was named to the All-SCIAC first team this year. Rond finished her career as a record holder with 228 goals and 255 drawn exclusions. Only seven other athletes were named to the All-American first team.

De Souza (Irvine) earned her second All-American honors and was appointed to the All-SCIAC team twice in her two years of play. De Souza started in the cage all 25 games she participated in this season and is on the top-10 list in two categories after completing her sophomore season (most saves in a game and most overall saves).

This is Gardhouse's (Agoura Hills) third All-American honors. Gardhouse is on the top-10 list for assists (94) and drawn ejections (102). In her career, Gardhouse has been named SCIAC Athlete of the Week, earned a spot on the All-SCIAC team, and was the SCIAC Defensive Player of the Year last season. She was a crucial part of 2019 squad that made it to the National Collegiate Water Polo Championships.

Dijkstra (Breda, Netherlands) was awarded her first All-American honors after the 2022 season. Dijkstra was recognized as All-SCIAC second team and ended her season with a .465 shot percentage. Dijkstra garnered SCIAC Athlete of the Week earlier in her career and was also part of the 2019 team that made it to the National Collegiate Water Polo Championship.
