Regals No. 3 in National Poll

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — California Lutheran University continues to be a powerhouse in Division III women's water polo as the Regals are ranked No. 3 in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) poll.

The Purple and Gold is off to a 3-3 start with wins over Division II opponents Cal State Monterey Bay and Fresno Pacific. The Regals battled with, but came up just short against Division I Cal Baptist (12-10) and Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) foe and No. 2 ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (8-7). 

Lexi Rond leads the way in all three major offensive statistical categories. She has 23 goals, while shooting .535 percent, to go along with 11 assists and 18 drawn ejections. She also adds eight steals.

Kemi Dijkstra is next with 13 goals and Jessica Diaz has seven. Diaz has the second-most assists with eight and Kaitlin Gardhouse has the second-most drawn ejections with 12. The duo leads the team in steals as Diaz has 14 and Gardhouse has 11 more. Diaz also leads the team with four field blocks.  

Izzy De Souza has started all six games in the cage. She has made 59 saves and adds five assists and five steals. De Souza has a save percentage of .513 and a goals-against-average of 9.74. 

The Regals are on the road this weekend, and face tough competition at the Harvard Invite.
