Regals Defeat D2 Fresno Pacific, Battle D1 Cal Baptist on Day Two of Tina Finali Memorial Tournament

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — On the day two of the Tina Finali Memorial Tournament, the California Lutheran University women's water polo team started the day with a 15-11 win over Division II Fresno Pacific and wrapped it up by battling Division I Cal Baptist, coming up just short 12-10. 

The tournament was Friday and Saturday as the Regals welcomed seven teams to the Samuelson Aquatics Center. Eight games were played on each day. 

Versus Fresno Pacific, Lexi Rond led her squad with five goals, five assists, and four drawn ejections. Katherine Knight added a hat trick and Bethany Metcalfe and Kaitlin Gardhouse each had two. 

Izzy De Souza started the game in the cage and Camryn O'Neal came in for the fourth. De Souza made six saves with a steal and an assists and O'Neal recorded two saves. Jessica Diaz continued to impress on the defensive end and tallied three steals. 

Against Cal Baptist, Rond totaled four goals and four drawn ejections. Dijkstra followed with three goals and Diaz added two more. 

De Souza was in goal and made 15 saves as she kept the game close. 

The Regals hit the road for the next four games and are at the Harvard Invite March 5-6. The first game is March 5 at 6 am PST.
