Rond Named SCIAC Athlete of the Week

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — California Lutheran University student-athlete Lexi Rond was  selected as the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning. 

Rond (Ventura, Calif.) was named SCIAC Athlete of the Week for the third time in her career. She earned Offensive Athlete of the Week and led Cal Lutheran to a 3-0 week. The Regals swept the competition, defeating Washington & Jefferson 21-5, Occidental 15-4 and Ottawa (AZ) 16-8.  

Rond scored a program record nine times in the win against Washington & Jefferson. She previously held the record with eight. She added six goals and five drawn ejections in the win against Ottawa. 

For the week, Rond scored 18 goals on just 27 shots, for a shooting percentage of .667. She added nine drawn ejections and three steals. The Regals have now won nine straight games and held seven of their last nine opponents to five points or less. 

Cal Lutheran is the No. 2 team in the nation and host No. 1 Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
