Rond Breaks Scoring Record in 21-5 Win Over Washington and Jefferson

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — The #2 ranked California Lutheran University women's water polo team answered an early challenge from the from the Washington and Jefferson College Presidents with a runaway 21-5 victory that included a record setting performance.

Senior Lexi Rond made yet another mark on the Cal Lutheran record books by breaking her own single game scoring record. She bested the previous mark by 1, scoring 9 goals on the day.

The Regals opened the scoring on a goal from Jacsen Donohue. The Presidents responded with a goal of their own. The Presidents pressured the Cal Lutheran defense early to take a 3-2 lead.

Rond's first goal tied the game and set the Regals on a dominating path. Cal Lutheran reeled off the next 16 goals. With the game out of reach at 19-3, the teams traded goals to a 21-5 final score.

Along with Lexi Rond's record setting performance, Kemi Dijkstra and Katherine Knight each found the back of the net 3 times.

Rachel Ray came away with 3 steals to lead the defensive effort.

In the net, Vianne Will notched 6 saves and starting goalkeeper Izzy de Souza made an impact on both ends with 9 saves and 4 assists.

The Regals will take their 7 match winning streak on the road to face Occidental on Saturday at 11:00am.
