Kingsmen and Regals Turn in 13 Top-10 Performances

LOS ANGELES — The Cal Lutheran men's and women's track and field teams turned in 13 top-10 performances as the Kingsmen and Regals competed at the Occidental Invite Saturday at Jack Kemp Stadium.

The top scores of the day came in the field events. Alexa Barnes and Kate Cochran took third and fourth in the discus, respectively. Barnes reached a distance of 36.98 meters and Cochran was right behind her with 35.86.

The top scores continued in the shot put. Jay Rhambo took home fifth as she tossed 11.27 meters. Kelsey Rouse had her best finish of the day as she was eighth with 8.96.

The Cal Lutheran 4x100 meter relay teams both took home seventh-place. The men's team of Obasi Dees, Christian Brodnax, Trent Mosley and Wendell O'Brien crossed the finish line with a time of 42.13. The women's team of Kendall Guidetti, Anna Schlosser, Stephanie Williamson and Ana Cordoba clocked in with a time of 49.37.

Three Regals were top-10 in the hammer throw. Rhambo had the best throw as she was fifth with a score of 41.61 meters. Barnes was seventh with 40.74 and Cochran was right behind her in eighth with 39.21.

The Violet and Gold saw three student-athletes take home ninth. Christian Rider ran the mixed 10,000 meter run and clocked in at 34:55.19. Morgan Snyder made it another top-10 as competed in the triple jump and put up a score of 10.84 meters. Guidetti turned in her second top-10 performance as she recorded a score of 5.57 in the long jump.

Rounding out the top-10 performers was Megan Pollock as she was 10th in the pole vault with 3.10 meters. Her finish is the fifth-best in program history. Kayla Cross was right behind Pollock and was 11th with a score of 2.95. Also placing 11th was Rouse as she jumped 1.50 meters in the high jump.

Rouse then placed 15th in the long jump with 5.12 meters and then placed 26th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.91. Erin MacNeil turned in a top-20 finish as she clocked in a time of 12:04.59 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.  

The Violet and Gold also competed in a lot of running events. Ana Cordoba was 32nd in the 100-meter dash with 12.75, Timmy Kahovec was 35th in the 800-meter run with 1:56.15, Rachel Ereso was 37th in the 1,500-meter run with 4:49.92, Connor Neufeld-Griffin was 49th in 1,500-meter run with 4:05.31 and Baza Carillo Rigoberto was 66th in the 5,000-meter run with 15:31.19.

The final regular season event for the Kinsgmen and Regals is the Redlands Final Qualifier Wednesday and Thursday in Redlands, Calif.
