Garcia Earns SCIAC AOW Honors

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – This afternoon the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the Week Six Athlete of the Week honorees and senior Cal Lutheran goalkeeper Eduardo Garcia was selected as the Men's Soccer AOW.

During the week, Garcia had two consecutive standout performances for the Kingsmen. He guiding CLU to a 2-0 record on the pitch in SCIAC action.

On Wednesday at Caltech, Garcia made five saves and recorded the shutout as the Kingsmen won 3-0. He continued his stellar play Saturday at Occidental as he tallied two saves and his second straight shutout.

To date, Garcia has made 48 stops and has a save percentage of .857. He has been the primary option for the Kingsmen in goal and has accumulated over 1,100 minutes of game time. His record on the year is 8-3-1.  

In week one on Sept. 11, senior Molly Holloway (women's volleyball) and senior Brandon Kearney (men's soccer) were selected for their respective sports. Senior Adam Friederichsen (football) was honored in week two and senior Kali Youngdahl (women's soccer) was honored in week four.

The SCIAC Athlete of the Week series is released each Monday throughout the academic year.
