Cross Country Set to Compete at SCIAC Championships

CHINO HILLS, Calif. – The Cal Lutheran men's and women's cross country teams are competing at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) 2017 Cross Country Championships Saturday at Prado Park.

"We are very excited that the time is here for SCIAC Championships," said head cross country coach Matt Lea. "We have been working extremely hard on both the men's and women's side and feel that we are totally ready for tomorrow. We will race as hard as we can and that is all we can ask of them."

The Kingsmen start at 9 a.m. and will run eight kilometers while the Regals get going at 9:45 a.m. and run six.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is set to defend both titles as the other eight teams will be looking to take the championship from them.

For the Kingsmen, Timothy Kahovec has finished with the team's best time in every race this year. He ran to his quickest time and an eighth-place finish at the UCR Invitational as he clocked in at 25 minutes and 28.9 seconds. He also finished 13th at the Mark Covert Invitational with a time of 26:10.3.

Rachel Ereso has led the Regals in every race. Her best time was 19:29.8 at the UCR Invitational. She has placed 23rd at the 2017 SCIAC Multi-Dual Meet with a time of 23:24.00 and 24th at the Pomona-Pitzer invite with 23:45.79.
