Track & Field Claims Four Events, Place Top-Three 14 More Times

WHITTIER, Calif. — California Lutheran track & field student-athlete Obasi Dees claimed two event titles and teammates Kendall Guidetti and Dallas Knapp each took one as the Kingsmen and Regals competed at the SCIAC Multi-Dual Meet No. 2 Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.

Cal Lutheran competed at the meet with Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponents Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Pomona-Pitzer and Whittier.

Dees won the 100- and 200-meter dash. He took the 100 with a time of 11.00 seconds flat. He then followed it up by winning the 200 with a 22.27.

Guidetti won the long jump for the Regals. She had a distance of 5.28 meters. Knapp took home the 400-meter run title for the Kingsmen with 50.31.

CLU then finished as the runner-up in eight events. Alexa Barnes placed second two times. She was second in the discus throw and the hammer throw with scores of 35.26 and 41.34 meters, respectively.

Connor Neufeld-Griffin was second in the 800-meter run (1:57.03).  Ana Cordoba was runner-up in the 100-meter dash (12.51). Katie Young finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:57.69). Kelsey Rouse had her top finish in the high jump (1.60 meters). She set a new personal record and is now sixth on CLU's all-time list. Jay Rhambo cracked the CLU top-10 for her second-place finish in the shot put (11.28 meters). The score is ninth best. The Regals then finished second in the 4x100 meter relay as the team of Guidetti, Anna Schlosser, Stephanie Williamson and Cordoba combined for the runner-up finish with a time of 49.44.

Taking third on the day was Kaitlyn Cochran in the discus (33.66 meters), Cordoba in the 200-meter dash (26.04), Anthony Flores in the hammer throw (38.04 meters), Megan Pollock in the pole vault (2.90 meters), Rouse in the 400-meter dash (1:02.09) and Morgan Snyder for the triple jump (11.10 meters) and javelin (27.84). Her length for the triple jump was her personal best and is the third-best at CLU.

Cal Lutheran's Rachel Ereso and Timmy Kahovec also cracked the top-10 in their events. Kahovec ran the 10th best time in CLU history for the 1,500-meter run as he placed fourth with a time of 3:59.45. Ereso now has the 10th-best time for the 1,500-meter run as she was fourth with 4:54.62. Rigoberto Baza Carillo also placed fourth as he turned in a time of 15:51.97 in the 5,000-meter run.

Up next for the Kingsmen and Regals is the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational. The meet is set for Saturday, April 7, at 10 a.m. in Claremont, Calif.
