NCAA Division III Championship Qualifiers Announced

INDIANAPOLIS — The 2018 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships were announced Tuesday, Mar. 6. The championships will be held March 21-24 at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis.

On the men's side, a total of 14 swimmer from five institutions will represent the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIACI) while 21 student-athletes from five schools on the women's side will represent the league.

Two Kingsmen will represent Cal Lutheran, while one Regal will represent the school at the national meet.

Sophomore, Ben Brewer became the first CLU Swimmer to earn an invitation to NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships in 2017. The Santa Barbara, Calif. native has received another invitation this year to compete at the 2018 Championships. Brewer will compete in the 500-yard and the 1650-yard freestyle.

First year Kingsmen, Andreas Nybo will make his first NCAA Division III Championship appearance. Nybo put up a B Cut mark in the 100-yard breaststroke and took home All-SCAIC honors as he finished with a time of 56.10 seconds at the SCIAC Championships. On the final day of the SCIAC Championships, Nybo touched in first for the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:48.94. He will compete in the 200-yard butterfly in the NCAA Championships.

Solo Regal, Grace Sanchez, will compete in the 50-yard freestyle at her first NCAA Division III Championship appearance. The North Hollywood, Calif. native garnered All-SCIAC honors as well as a relay All-SCIAC honor on the last day of the SCIAC Championships. She had the best time on the final day of SCIAC Championships, as she was runner-up in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.70 seconds.



A total of 579 participants (526 swimmers and 53 divers) will compete in the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships. NCAA.com will video stream all sessions Wednesday through Saturday of the championships.
