Cal Lutheran Soccer ID Clinic

Cal Lutheran Soccer ID Clinic

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran women's and men's soccer staff are hosting a soccer clinic for all players who have the desire to play in college on Sunday, Jan. 21, in William Rolland Stadium. Each clinic will be ran by the head coach of each team – the women's head coach is Frank Marino and the men's head coach is Miguel Ruiz.

This clinic will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes a lunch break, campus tour and classroom sessions. Parents are welcome and encouraged to join the athletes for the classroom sessions as financial aid and what it takes to play at the collegiate level will be discussed.

Marino led the Regals to a Conference Championship and the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history this past season. In his nine years of coaching, he has had five Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships and a Tournament Championship. Marino was also named SCIAC Coach of the Year in 2017 with an 11-1-2 conference record.

Ruiz is entering his first year as the Kingsmen's head coach. In 2009, he became a member of the Cal State Northridge Women's soccer staff. Ruiz was in charge of developing training regiments and other administrative responsibilities. In 2015, he became the head coach for the women's soccer team at Moorpark College. Ruiz has been coaching both men's and women's soccer for about 10 years.

Alongside these great head coaches, athletes will be working with the Cal Lutheran assistant coaches and current players. This one-day clinic is open to all student-athletes interested and will be in compliance with all CIF-SS regulations. Participants will not be playing directly with the current Cal Lutheran team.

If you have any questions, women athletes contact Frank Marino and men athletes contact Miguel Ruiz. Or for more information and/or registration, please visit clusports.com/camps.
