SAN ANTONIO — It was a defensive showing as Cal Lutheran women's soccer took on the Hardin-Simmons Cowgirls on Sunday afternoon. Trinity (Texas) played host to the contest as the Cowgirls defeated the Regals 1-0.

The loss snapped Cal Lutheran's four-game win streak and dropped them to 4-3 on the year.

Logan Duford was in goal and made six saves as she kept the Regals in the game. That was all the offense the Cowgirls needed as the Regals looked for an answer.

In the first half, it was all about the defense. The Regals had a few chances, but could not get any shots on goal. Aly Legrand, Izzy Martinez and Isabella Veljacic each took a shot.

In the second half, the Regals had more chances, but could not convert. Avery West, Martinez, Veljacic (two), Savana Durr, Macey Peery (two) and Janelle Gutierrez took shots, as they looked for a game-winner or equalizer.

Hardin-Simmons put seven shots on goal, and broke through in the 63rd minute. Cal Lutheran had no such luck as the Cowgirls escaped with a 1-0 win

After their final non-conference game, the Regals jump back into SCIAC play. Cal Lutheran remains on the road and is at Whittier on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
