Regals Shutout Third Straight Conference Opponent; Send Redlands Home with First SCIAC Loss

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Freshmen Ryan Kaneko and Olivia Suarez both recorded their first collegiate goals as Cal Lutheran women's soccer sent Redlands home with their first conference loss of the season. A 2-0 decision on Saturday night. 

The Regals have shutout all three conference opponents this season. The Violet and Gold improve to 5-3-1 and are 2-0-1 in conference. Redlands drops to 3-3 overall and 3-1 in conference.

Logan Duford was in goal and recorded her fourth shutout of the season. She made two saves and picked up the clean sheet. 

The Regals scored a goal in both halves. Kaneko scored in the 28th minute with the assist coming from Avery West. Suarez doubled up the lead in the 80th minute with the assist coming from Isabella Veljacic

The Regals controlled the game from start to finish. Cal Lutheran outshot Redlands 12-7, as the Regals had four shots on goal to Redlands' two. 

Cal Lutheran will look to continue their run through conference competition on Wednesday. The Regals host Chapman at 7 p.m.
