Veljacic Earns Women’s Soccer SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week Honor

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — California Lutheran University student-athlete Isabella Veljacic was selected Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.

Veljacic (Monterey Park, Calif.) was the named Offensive Player of the Week as she led Regals soccer to a 2-0 week. Cal Lutheran defeated Concordia (Tex.) 3-1 and No. 11 Washington (Mo.) 2-1.

The senior forward scored three goals and assisted on one more as the Regals' offense is starting to heat up. She scored the first goal of the match against Concordia, and it opened the flood gates for her teammates. Down 1-0 against Washington, Veljacic scored the equalizer, as she made a move on the defender and fired a shot to the upper right corner. With 40 seconds left in the game, and the ball bouncing around in the box, it came to Veljacic's feet and she placed it in the back of the net.

The Regals are back in action on Wednesday and host Caltech for the first conference game of the year at 7 p.m.
