Godines Selected SCIAC Women’s Basketball Offensive Athlete of the Week

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — California Lutheran University student-athlete Grace Godines earned Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Women's Basketball Offensive Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning. This is Godines' first SCIAC Athlete of the Week honor.

Godines (Seattle, Wash.) and Regals basketball started their 2021-22 season this past week, going 2-1. The Purple and Gold defeated Willamatte (62-59) and Lewis & Clark (71-70), but fell to Puget Sound (60-83). Godines made the game winner versus Lewis & Clark. With 1.4 seconds left, and down one, a perfectly drawn up play had Godines' defender lost. Patil Yaacoubian inbounded to Godines in the lane, and she held her composure to bank in the winning shot. 

The sophomore averaged 10.7 points per game over the three games. Godines shot 47.8-percent from the field, 37.5 from three-point range and made all seven of her free throws. She recorded 6.7 rebounds per game with 3.3 being offensive. She added four assists and five steals. 

The Regals are back in action on Wednesday and travel to La Sierra for a game at 6 p.m.
