Purple And Gold Sail By Leopards; Four Regals Score In Double Digits

Thousand Oaks, Calif. – The Purple and Gold's 23-point win over La Verne included 11 different Regals on the scoreboard with four of them in double digits. They sent the Leopards home with an 89-66 loss.

The Regals started on fire in the offense with a 23-11 quarter with the lead in their favor. They shut down the Leopards on defense and were connecting with the basket possession after possession.

The Leopards adjusted their shooting and outshot the Regals in the second quarter 19-14. It was getting physical towards the end of the first half but the Regals kept their composure and went into halftime with the advantage of 37-30.

The Regals came out hard in the third and had a game-high quarter of 32 points. This ensured a comfortable fourth quarter where they hung with the Leopards and were only outshot by one-point.

Mackenzy Iwahashi was the game-high scorer with 21 points to her name. She had an additional six rebound and three steals in her 33 minutes of play.

Sara Mills was behind her with 15 points of her own. She had a team-high total of eight rebounds and still dished out four other assists. Cameron Mallory was right there with her with 15 points of her own.

Mallory entered the game with back-to-back three pointers on the Leopards. She tacked on another four rebounds to help out the defense and three assists in their offensive efforts.

Right behind Mills and Mallory was Naomi Gipson with 14 points that came late in the game. Although the Leopards man marked on defense, Gipson was able to establish her place in the key and put-up lay-up after lay-up.

Six other Regals disbursed the remaining points amongst themselves as they continued to break down the Leopards defense. Aliya DiMuro contributed on the offense with six points and three offensive rebounds but held it down in the key with three more defensive rebounds and three blocks.

Danielle Morgan held her place on the court as she helped on both offense and defense in her 24 minutes of play. She had five points, five rebounds, and four assists.

It was a good night for the Regals as the displayed an array of scoring while shutting down the Leopards through the entirety of the game.  

The Purple and Gold pack their things and hit the road on Wednesday to take on Caltech at 7 pm.
