Regals Fall Short On The Road; Morgan Drains 24 Points

La Verne, Calif. – Regals basketball travelled to La Verne in pursuit of another conference win. It was a tight game all throughout between the two but the Leopards were triumphant in the end with a 71-67 win.

It was a slow start for the Purple and Gold as they ended the first 10-minute period down 23-14. They gained traction in the second quarter and outscored the Leopards 20-16, sending them into the half only down by five points.

The Regals continued to gain momentum in the third quarter though the Leopards were close behind. They cut their deficit down to three points as they entered the fourth quarter but were unable to take the lead. They were outscored 16-17 in the fourth and left La Verne with a loss.

Danielle Morgan brought a massive offensive presence for the Regals. She put up 24 points, five rebounds, two steals, and one assist. She went 11-16 from the field and 2-2 from the three-point line.

Close behind her with 17 points was Karina McMillan. She grabbed seven rebounds, had four steals, dished out one assist, and had one block.

Cameron Mallory and Mackenzy Iwahashi each added nine points to the score. Mallory had an additional three rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Iwahashi tallied four assists, two rebounds, one block, and one steal.

Overall the Regals forced nine turnovers and shot 71.4-percent from the free throw line. They return to Gilbert Arena on Saturday for a 4 pm tip-off against Whittier.
