Regals Close Out Season On The Road Versus No. 1 Redlands

Redlands, Calif. – Regals basketball competed in their last game of the 2021-2022 season on the road against No. 1 University of Redlands. Though the Purple and Gold put up nearly 60 points, the Bulldogs came out triumphant with a 79-59 win.

The Regals got off to a slow start and were outshot 21-11 in the first quarter. They showed more of an offensive presence in the second quarter but the Bulldogs offense was too much for the Regals to stop. Redlands was up 42-26 going into halftime.

It was a close second 20 for the Regals as they were only outscored by four points total in the second half. The heavy offensive presence in the first half from the Bulldogs is what ended the Regals season.

Mackenzy Iwahashi, a veteran Regal, was the high scorer for the Purple and Gold with 11 points. She concluded her collegiate career with an additional four rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

Four-year teammate of Iwahashi, Cameron Mallory, was right behind her with 10 points. This double-digit scoring wasn't uncommon for Mallory as she was a sharpshooter for the Regals throughout the season. She ended this last game with a team-high five rebounds and one assist.

Kamakani DeBlake, a third Regal senior, and Danielle Morgan each put up nine points. DeBlake ended her student-athlete career with another four rebounds and one assist.

Morgan dished out two assists in the offensive half and collected three rebounds. Naomi Gipson got in the mix with eight points, four rebounds and one block.

This concludes the Regals 2021-2022 season. We'll see them again this winter in Gilbert Arena.
