The Regals Fall Short Of The Win By Three Points

Thousand Oaks, Calif. – It came down to the final minutes of the game but the Panthers escaped with the 62-59 win against the Regals.

Two Regals scored in the double digits. Grace Godines had 18 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Patil Yaacoubian had 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

The Purple and Gold were up by three after the first quarter. It was tight but they were able to find the hoop and drain free throws. The second quarter was just at tight and they went point for point with the Panthers. This gave them a three-point lead heading into the half.

The Regals started the second half strong with a six-point run right off the bat. The Panthers fought back and kept it close but the Regals still had a four-point lead heading into the last 10-minute period. After one of the Regals starters fouled out and it started to get physical, with the majority of the calls being against the Purple and Gold, the Panthers outscored the regals by seven points in the final quarter to take the win.

The Purple and Gold were going back and forth with Chapman in the final three minutes of the game. Each team would take a one-point lead just to be tied up again on the next possession.

Yaacoubian was active in the offense giving the Regals good chances. Naomi Gipson ended with nine points on the night. She was driving to the basket and went five for five from the free throw line.

Aliya DiMuro had eight points and three massive blocks once the game was over. She collected 11 rebounds and established her spot in the paint.

The Regals don't return to the court until Friday December 13th at home.
