ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — California Lutheran University student-athlete Desi Burrage was selected Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday morning.

Burrage (Phoenix, Ariz.) was named the Men's Basketball Defensive Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career. Guarding the best player on each team, the sophomore surrendered just 17 points on seven baskets over a three-game slate in which Cal Lutheran went 2-1, falling only to Preseason D3hoops.com No. 12 Pomona-Pitzer. He also grabbed 10 rebounds, dished out 10 assists, nabbed four steals and blocked one shot while averaging 8.3 points per game and shooting an even 50 percent from the floor.

The Kingsmen are back in action on Wednesday as Cal Lutheran welcomes Occidental to Gilbert Arena with tip-off set for 7 p.m.
