Kingsmen Hand Concordia Chicago its First Loss

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. Tommy Griffitts put an exclamation point on the game as his dunk with with 1:38 remaining put Cal Lutheran men's basketball up 76-59 against Concordia Chicago. The Kingsmen handed the Cougars their first loss of the season, 79-61, on Wednesday night.

All five Cal Lutheran starters scored in double figures and Griffitts led the way as he recorded a double-double. Griffitts had 18 points, on 9-13 shooting, and added 13 rebounds. Six of his rebounds were offensive. 

Jake Martin was next with 16 points and hit four three-pointers. Brock Susko recorded 14 points and recorded a fantastic stat line with eight rebounds and six assists. Desi Burrage had 12 points, four re bounds and a team-high three steals. Devon Lewis put up 10 points and matched Susko with a team-high six assists. 

There were six ties and 26 lead changes in the game. The Kingsmen took the lead after a close first half and had a 35-32 advantage at the break. Cal Lutheran turned it on in the second half, outscored the Cougars 44-29, and picked up a big win.

The Kingsmen shot 50-percent from the field and 34.6 from three-point range. Cal Lutheran dished out 21 assists and had just 12 turnovers. The Kingsmen scored 38 pionts in the point, and had 18 points off turnovers. The big difference in the game was Cal Lutheran's 19 second chance points to Concordia Chicago's six.

The Kingsmen Classic continues tomorrow and Cal Lutheran will host Luther at 4 p.m.
