Kingsmen Outlasted by UC Santa Cruz in Overtime 81-73

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's basketball was outlasted by UC Santa Cruz 81-73 in overtime on Sunday afternoon. 

It was the first overtime game of the season for the Kingsmen as they dropped to 3-5 overall.  The Banana Slugs tied the game with two free throws with 22 seconds left. The Kingsmen had a shot at thew buzzer, but Riley O'Connor's three-pointer with two seconds left was short.

There was seven ties and 10 lead changes during the game. UC Santa Cruz had their largest lead with 11 while Cal Lutheran's largest lead was eight. Cal Lutheran shot 35.1-percent from the field and 29.4 from three-point range and UC Santa Cruz was 42.2 and 40.9.

UC Santa Cruz led by three at the half and the Kingsmen made up the points in the second as the game went to overtime. The Banana Slugs outscored the Kingsmen 18-10 in overtime and left Cal Lutheran with a win.

Brock Susko had a team-high 20 points, Devon Lewis was next with 12, Jake Martin and O'Connor had nine each, Lojong Andarea Ladu had eight and Ze'ev Remer added seven.

Lewis showed off an all-around game and match Desi Burrage with a team-high nine rebounds. Lewis added three assists and four steals. Susko had a team-high five rebounds and recorded seven rebounds.

The Kingsmen look to bounce back as they host the Kingsmen Classic December 28th and 29th. Cal Lutheran kick off the classic with Concordia Chicago Wednesday, December 28th, at 4 p.m.
