Kingsmen Get First Win, Defeat Pacific Lutheran

TACOMA, Wash. Desi Burrage, Tommy Griffitts and Jake Martin scored 12 points each as Cal Lutheran  men's basketball won their first game of the year 67-62 on Saturday night.

The Kingsmen shot an impressive 43.8-percent from the three-point line. Martin hit four three-pointers Riley O'Connor added two more.

Cal Lutheran held Pacific Lutheran to 27 points in the second half and scored 35 as they turned the game around in the second half.  The Kingsmen scored took over the game with 29 bench points compared to the Lutes' nine. O'Connor had six points off the bench, Ryan Grande had five and Lojong Andarea Ladu had four. 

The teams went back-and-forth with the game having eight ties and 14 lead changes. The Kingsmen opened the first half with a free throw by Burrage. His shot was quickly followed by more made by Brock Susko, Devon Lewis, Grande, Martin, O'Connor, and Griffitts. Together Cal Lutheran put up 32 points in the first half. Pacific Lutheran scored 35 points and had the lead after 20 minutes. 

Cal Lutheran returned in the second half, itching to take the win. Griffitts started the Kingsmen's roll with a layup. Lewis, Andarea Ladu, Martin, Davis, Susko, and Burrage continued the scoring. 

Cal Lutheran's onslaught within the last five minutes carried the Kingsmen to victory as the final score rested at 67-62. 

The Kingsmen's next game will be against Whitworth on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m.
