Kingsmen Force No. 9 Pomona-Pitzer to Three Sets in Five of Six Singles Matches

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's tennis took No. 9 Pomona-Pitzer to three sets in five of the six singles positions as the Kingsmen went toe-to-toe with the Sagehens. In the first conference match of the year, the Sagehens escaped with a 7-2 win on Friday afternoon. 

The Kingsmen two points came in singles play. Cade Haffner won a super tiebreaker and Parker McBride defeated last year's D3 Ojai West Regional Champion.

McBride took the No. 2 singles spot with 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (5) and Haffner won the No. 6 spot 4-6, 7-6 (2), 10-3.

In the remainder of singles play, Darvel Lossangoye fell 6-1, 4-6, 4-6, at the No. 1, Jacob de la Paz was defeated 1-6, 6-2, 2-6, at the No. 3, Rainy Wei fell 6-4, 4-6, 1-6 at the No. 4 and Aaron Moylan fell 2-6, 1-6 at the No. 5. 

Pomona-Pitzer took all three of the doubles matches. Lossangoye and de la Paz fell 8-3 at the No. 1, Haffner and Wei were defeated 8-0 at the No. 2 and McBride and Moylan fell 8-7 (7-5) at the No. 3.

Up next, the Kingsmen jump back into conference play. Cal Lutheran hosts Colorado Col. on Thursday at 5 p.m.
