Kingsmen Fall to Westmont at Home

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's tennis suffered its first defeat of the season as the Kingsmen fell to the Westmont Warriors 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon. The loss drops the Kingsmen to 1-1 on the year. 

The Kingsmen got off to a slow start and lost two of the three doubles matches. Westmont took the No. 1 and No. 2 spots as Darvel Lossangoye and Jacob de la Paz fell 8-4 and Parker McBride and Aaron Moylan lost 8-3, respectively. Cal Lutheran got its first point of the duel as Friedrich Ludwig and Nick Griffin won 8-7(9-7) at the No. 3.

In singles, Cal Lutheran only won at the No. 6 spot. Ludwig added to the point total as he won his matchup 6-4, 4-6, 10-8. Lossangoya fell 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 1, McBride went down 6-3, 0-6, 3-6 at the No. 2, de la Paz fell 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 3, Cade Haffner took the 6-4, 7-6 loss at the No. 4 and Shawn Rothermel was defeated 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 5.

The Kingsmen stay at home and host Pomona-Pitzer for their first conference match on Friday at 3 p.m.
