What year's where you at Cal Lutheran?

2011-14

While at Cal Lutheran, what was your experience like?

I often credit Cal Lutheran as the best years of my life. I met people who have made and continue to make such an impact on me. I grew not only academically, but spiritually and emotionally. It may sound dramatic but the years spent at Cal Lu were so formative for me and continue to be so. I maintain contact with not only teammates, but professors, pastore presidents and beyond.

How was your experience with the team and other athletes?

Being a part of the volleyball team was life changing. to be able to form such a deep love and bond with the girls and staff has made my adult life what it is. I have been to and participated in countless weddings, job promotions, baby showers and every moment big and small in between and I am a better woman and person because of my time in the program.

What is your current job, and how did Cal Lutheran prepare you for that?

I'm currently a senior executive for the LA Kings. The time I had in the classroom and building relationships in the sporting world prepared me to have the confidence, skills, and communication abilities to navigate my way in professional sports.

How did being a student-athlete prepare you for your professional career?

As cliche as it sounds, disciplining myself in collegiate sports prepared me to be a part of a team and persevere for a larger goal.

What is your favorite part about the job?

I work in our groups department, specifically with youth organizations. Being able to facilitate a first time hockey experience for a lot of younger kids is the best part of my job. I have worked with our university in particular -- the upward bound program and was so inspired by the ambition and fearlessness in these kids to lean in and assert themselves into spaces that were new to them. Days and events like those make my job worth while.

What is a typical day at your job?

The truth is there is no typical day for me. With the number of games and events that we have the days are never the same and that was truly the appeal to me. The ever revolving door of new challenges and experiences keeps me occupied and growing constantly.

Did you know you always wanted to do this, or when did you know what you wanted to do?

I graduated not having any specific job or position in mind. I knew the sporting world is where I felt most drawn and comfortable, but arriving in the organization that I did and growing the way that I have was nothing short of divine intervention. It was all about meeting the right people at the right time. I had a skillset that benefitted me and the personality and determination to make my own way.

What does it mean to you to be a Regal?

I am most proud of being a Regal. Not only am I a proud graduate of Cal Lutheran, and the athletics program, I am most proud to be a female athlete from our university. The women I have met and built beautiful lasting relationships with within Cal Lutheran have truly shaped me and the way I carry myself in life for the better. Being a Regal is an honor and a defining characteristic of who I am.
