THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.— Samantha Landrum tallied a career high 16 kills, with an attack percentage of .556, to lead the Cal Lutheran women's volleyball team past the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens 27-25, 26-24, 23-25, 25-15 Tuesday night.

The win clinched a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference berth for the Regals as they improved to 9-5 in league play and 15-10 overall. Cal Lutheran has advanced to the tournament every year since its inception in 2009.

Landrum exploded for her career night in kills and attack percentage as she only took 27 swings and committed just one error. She also controlled the play at the net, with Maci Haddad, as the duo tallied five block assist each.

Morgan Given kept the fantastic hitting coming as she recorded 13 kills with a clip of .417 and added two block assists. Haddad made it three Regals with double-digit kills as she had 12.

Jennifer Kent and Jenna Jones had the offense clocking on all cylinders as they combined for 47 assists. Kent dished out 24 and added three digs, two service aces, one block and one kill. Jones was right behind her with 23 assists, nine digs, two service aces and one kill.

Defensively, Carly Rose Howard led the way with 13 digs and has recorded double-digit digs in six straight games. She was impressive with her serves and recorded a team high four aces and added four assists.

The offense thrived against the Sagehens as the Regals hit with an attack percentage of .250 or higher in every set. Their high of the match was .452 in the second set.

Pomona-Pitzer took the lead in the first set and was up 13-8. The Regals fired back as Landrum and Kristine Fimlaid combined for a block and Kent served two aces. The Regals kept fighting back and took a 20-17 lead after another four-point run. After PP tied the set at 25, kills from Haddad and Kent ended the first set.

The teams split the next two sets, both coming down to the wire and CLU was up 2-1 heading to the fourth set. With Cal Lutheran down 9-5 in the fourth set, the Regals used a 7-1 run and took a 12-10 lead. Pomona-Pitzer went back up 13-12 as Cal Lutheran answered with a six-point swing and took a commanding 18-13 lead. That was all the Regals needed as they won the set 25-15, the match 3-1 and clinched a spot in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament.

With two games left before postseason, the Regals can extend their win streak. Cal Lutheran will go for four straight wins at Occidental on Friday at 7 p.m.
