Howard Named Defensive Athlete of the Week

ALISO VIEJO, Calif.– This afternoon the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week honorees and Cal Lutheran libero Carly Rose Howard was selected as the Women's Volleyball Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Howard was instrumental for the Regals, as the team went a perfect 4-0 in their annual Cal Lu Fornia Invitational. On Friday, the Regals took down UC Santa Cruz (3-1) and Texas Lutheran (3-1) before knocking off Concordia (Texas) (3-1) and Puget Sound (3-2) on Saturday.

A senior from Portland, Ore., Howard earned the award for the first time in her career. She recorded a career-high 31 digs in a five-set thriller with Puget Sound. She also tallied double-digit digs in all four games and had 18 versus UC Santa Cruz, 15 against Texas Lutheran and 14 versus Concordia.

The Regals continue the season on the road as the Regals will be at the East-West Battle in St. Louis, Mo. Cal Lutheran starts competition on Friday with Trinity (Texas) at 12:30 p.m. PST.
