ALISO VIEJO, Calif.— Maci Haddad earned First Team All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) honors while teammates Morgan Given and Carly Rose Howard garnered Second Team as the trio represented Cal Lutheran women's volleyball.
This is the seventh straight year that at least three Regals have been named All-SCIAC. This year, CLU tied for the most honorees on the team with Chapman and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
Haddad (Bakersfield, Calif.) was named to the First Team for the second consecutive year. The sophomore is third in the SCIAC with a hitting percentage of .312. The middle blocker was tremendous offensively and defensively as she ranked fifth in blocks per set. She tallied the third most total blocks (90) and the tenth most kills (237) in the conference. Her season highs were 14 kills and five total blocks which she recorded multiple times.
In her first year with the Regals, Given (Orlando, Fla.) earned Second Team All-SCIAC honors. As an opposite, she tallied the second most kills on the team with 189 (1.99) per set and had an attacking percentage of .237. The junior had the 14th best hitting percentage in the conference and tallied the 17th most blocks with 53. Her season highs were 17 kills and six total blocks.
The lone senior on the team, Howard (Portland, Ore.), was the second Regal named to the Second Team. The starting libero has been instrumental for the defense as she led the team with 419 digs. The three-time SCIAC Specialist of the Week was first in the SCIAC with only 46 reception errors, eighth in digs per set with 4.32 and 32nd with 20 aces. She tallied 10-plus digs 21 times and set her career high with 36.
The Regals continue the season in the SCIAC Tournament. No. 3 Cal Lutheran travels to No. 2 Chapman on Thursday for the semifinals at 7 p.m. The winner advances to the championship on Saturday.
