Kingsmen Push Win Streak to Nine; Defeat St. Norbert for 12th Sweep

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran Men's Volleyball defeated St. Norbert 3-0 in the opener of the Cal-Lu-Fornia series. The scores of the sets were 14-25, 14-25, 16-25.

This victory brings their record to 17-6, is their ninth win in a row, and their 12th sweep of the year.

The Kingsmen made a total of 40 kills, on 79 team attacks, for a percentage of .418. Ben Weber led Cal Lutheran's efforts as he had 10 kills and three digs. He was followed by Logan Marks who had eight kills and four digs. Taylor Marks recorded seven aces, 31 assists, four digs, three kills, and two blocks. Connor Crawford and Noah Rigo had four total blocks each.

The Green Knights opened the game as they were the first to go on the board. The Kingsmen were quick to trade shots as the games was tied 5-5. Cal Lutheran managed to pull ahead as the Kingsmen had an early 12-5 lead. St. Norbert tried to close the distance, 13-9, but the Kingsmen kept climbing and went up 18-9. The Green Knights tried to recover, but the Kingsmen claimed the first set 25-14.

The Kingsmen started strong as they began the second set dominating the court and scroign six straight points. The Green Knights refused to fold as they tried a comeback of their own, cutting the defifict to 10-6. The Kingsmen continued to shine and increased their lead to 20-12. The Kingsmen easily took the second set, 14-25.

Cal Lutheran opened the third with another run and went up 4-0. The Green Knights refused to stay down for long as they quickly tried to close the distance 10-7. The Kingsmen found themselves in a fight as they traded shots once more and narrowly held the lead at 13-10. Cal Lutheran quickly found their rhythm as they controlled the court and won the game 25-16.

The Kingsmen's next game will be in Gilbert Arena against UC Santa Cruz on Friday, March 17, at 6 p.m. continuing the Cal-Lu-fornia Classic.
