Kingsmen Make Quick Work of Aurora

AURORA, Ill. — Cal Lutheran men's volleyball made quick work of Aurora winning 3-0 on Thursday. Scores of the match were 25-19, 25-18, 25-16. 

The Kingsmen started their Illinois road trip in dominating fashion as they improved to 12-6 on the year. It is their third straight sweep and seventh this year. 

Logan Marks led the way with 11 kills while hitting .440. His brother, Taylor Marks recorded a double-double with 27 assists and 12 digs. The Kingsmen hit .316 as a team while holding Aurora to .087. 

Ben Weber and Borys Horiuk recorded two services aces each as the Kingsmen totaled six in all. Horiuk was big around the net and had four blocks and L. Marks added three. 

With the Kingsmen up 16-15 in set one, they went on a 4-0 run to give them the cushion they needed. Weber recorded two kills during the run while Horiuk served an ace and T. Marks swatted down a kill. 

Cal Lutheran continued to dominate late in the sets as the match moved to the second. Up 18-17, the Kingsmen scored six of the next seven points as they ran away with the second set. Weber had two kills, T. Marks had a kill and Horiuk added an ace during the run.

The Kingsmen put the finishing touches on the match in the third set. Up 8-7, Cal Lutheran used another 4-0 run and controlled the set the rest of the way. T. Marks served an ace and the Spartans committed three errors. Cal Lutheran made quick work of Aurora as the match lasted one hour and 14 minutes. 

The Kingsmen continue their Illinois trip on Friday. Cal Lutheran is at Dominican with first serve set for 5 pm PST.
