THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's volleyball dismantled the University of Saint Katherine 3-0 on Thursday night.

In just one hour and 10 minutes, the scores of the match were 25-20, 25-16 and 25-14. This brings their overall record to 7-5 and their second win in a row at home.

The Kingsmen made a total of 32 kills, 26 digs, and had 70 team attacks. Ben Weber led the way with 7 kills and Jake Tucker and Logan Marks had six each. Taylor Marks kept the offense going with 21 assists.Cal Lutherna hit .257 and held the Firebirds to -.037.

The Kingsmen defense was led by Tucker with eight digs. Sean Fitzpatrick was next with five digs and Borys Horiuk had five total blocks. 

Cal Lutheran started the match strong as they opened with a kill. The Firebirds quickly shot back, as both teams traded points. For a moment, the Firebirds took the lead 6-4, but the Kingsmen came right back and went back up 23-16. The Firebirds quickly tried to make a comeback, but Cal Lutheran kept them down and took the first set 25-20.

The Kingsmen came into the second set strong as they opened the set 2-0. Cal Lutheran opened up their lead at 7-2 and had the momentum. The Firebirds attempted to close the distance, but the Kingsmen kept rolling and went up 11-4. Cal Lutheran kept control of the court and took a 15-4 lead. Cal Lutheran dominated the second set and won 25-16. 

The Firebirds returned with a vengeance as they opened the third set with a kill. The Kingsmen quickly fired back and took the lead at 5-3. The Firebirds tried to keep up, but Cal Lutheran kept their momentum going and climbed to 21-13. The Kingsmen took the third set 25-14 and the match..

The Kingsmen's next game will be against Simpson in Soiland Arena on Saturday at 5 p.m.
